In August 2022, GEU was granted the coveted ‘A+’ grade by NAAC, after enjoying NAAC ‘A’ grade since 2015. In December 2022, GEU became the only university in the region with 7 NBA-accredited programs — Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, and MBA. ICMMART-2026 — the International Conference on Materials, Manufacturing, AI, Robotics & Computational Technologies, held on 15–16 October 2026 at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, in Collaboration with Institutions of Engineering (India) in hybrid mode — creates a unified platform where researchers, academicians, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and policymakers converge at the intersection of advanced materials, manufacturing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and computational technologies. As these once-separate fields increasingly overlap — smart materials feeding into AI-driven design, robotics reshaping manufacturing floors, computational tools accelerating discovery — the conference is built on the belief that the next generation of engineering breakthroughs will emerge from their intelligent convergence. Its scope spans seven interconnected tracks, deliberately including entrepreneurship, innovation, and tourism alongside core technical areas, in recognition that technological advancement needs startups to commercialize it, policy to support it, and local economies like Uttarakhand’s tourism-driven landscape to benefit from it.
ICMMART-2026 is designed to generate outcomes that extend well beyond published papers. Research on eco-friendly composites, energy-efficient manufacturing, and circular-economy practices supports industrial sustainability, while sessions on AI-driven predictive maintenance, autonomous systems, and smart computing aim to produce practical tools for healthcare, disaster management, agriculture, and industrial safety. Given Uttarakhand’s vulnerability to landslides, cloudbursts, and earthquakes, the conference’s alignment with disaster-resilience and green-energy research directly supports climate-resilient technologies for the Himalayan region and India’s clean energy transition and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. A dedicated Startup & Innovation Pitch Competition supports translating research into viable ventures, particularly in green technology and sustainable tourism, while the hybrid format ensures researchers and students from remote institutions can access world-class discussions.
The Institution of Engineers (India) — IEI — is the country’s largest multidisciplinary professional body of engineers, established in 1920 with headquarters in Kolkata. Incorporated under Royal Charter on 9th September 1935 by King George V, IEI remains the only Indian professional body to hold this distinction, and after Independence became a ‘Body Corporate’ protected under Article 372 of the Constitution of India, administered by a National Council headed by its President.
Over more than a century it has grown to encompass 125 State and Local Centres, 6 Overseas Chapters, 6 Fora, and its own training organ, the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), Hyderabad — spanning 15 engineering disciplines with a corporate membership of over 2 lakh engineers. IEI is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO), awarding Grant-in-Aid to UG, PG and PhD students, and its standard-setting work led directly to the formation of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It was the first Indian body to represent the country in international bodies such as WFEO, CEC, and FEISCA, and holds the International Professional Engineers (IntPE) Register for India. IEI also conducts the AMIE Examinations, recognized as equivalent to an engineering degree by the Government of India and UPSC, and publishes peer-reviewed journals with Springer Nature across all fifteen engineering disciplines.
Established in 2003, the IEI Uttarakhand State Centre operates from its own building near the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Dehradun, and today serves nearly 2,800 corporate members across the state. The Centre has built a strong reputation for regional technical leadership through several dedicated cells: a Disaster Awareness & Management Forum (DAMF), active since the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy, coordinating with Uttarakhand’s Disaster Management Department; a Green Energy Cell (2015) addressing solar, hydropower, and wind energy for the Himalayan region; a Building and Material Testing Lab; and Skill Development, Quality Control, and Professional Skill Development Cells building technical capacity among the region’s engineers. Its expertise in disaster resilience, green energy, and skill development makes it a natural knowledge partner for ICMART-2026’s themes of sustainable development, smart manufacturing, and computational technologies.
